Tour Report | Voodoo lounge, Dublin, Ireland - Fri 12th Nov 2004

So, it all started fine. The sound was OK, although hang on, I spent around 10 minutes in a total panic because my fiddle didn't appear to work. Then after a lot of fiddling (wonderful pun) I found that it was one of my leads. Its not like I know a lot of people in Dublin with spare electric fiddles!!

Then more fun started. Epoch, the support band, wasn't showing, they got lost on the way from Belfast. Time went on. So, it came to 30 mins before they were to go on, and we didn't have a phone number for them. We thought they weren't going to come so, I started ringing around bands that I knew. The only band though I knew that would show up in 30 minutes was my other band in which I play drums (that would have been funny, 5 instruments in one night). Alas, one of the guys was in cork and the others were working.

Then, on comes Epoch and they play their set. I must say, I preferred the singer when he was in DM band putrefy. Although I did like some of their stuff, especially the blacker stuff and also they're take on the covers they did.

So, the whole murphys law thing again, after our 2nd song, Joe tells us that the kick drum skin has split in two. But, just as we recovered from not bringing the tom stands to the aran islands gig, we managed to stick everything together with tape. When in doubt tape it!!!! Seriously, gaffa tape needs a lifetime achievement award. Then for some strange reason we all started getting into it. Oh, I know why, coz the audience were headbanging and doing that strange hybrid of moshing and jigging. I messed up my usual amount of times, but hey that's what I do best, and it assures the audience that its LIVE music. :)

Oh, hang on a sec. I totally forgot, for some unknown reason to me, half way through the set Karen's friend threw a size 52 woman's knickers on stage, then John started to put it on to the sound of me playing the banjo part of deliverance. SURREAL OR WHAT.

Weird and wonderful gig.
