Tour Report | Bloodstock fest, UK - Sat 3rd Sep 2004

After being picked up from the airport and taken to our hotel in Derby we realised we were a tad early. So, what could we do only contribute to the Irish stereotype by finding the closest dodgy pub and having an early morning pint. So, we found our pub, where the friendly, maybe a slight bit rough (hang on, very rough) bar lady allowed us to leave our equipment in her front room.... rock'n'roll.

So, being rockstars we sat down beside what looked like fellow metallers. After a while we got talking and found that they were the new guitarist from Children of Bodom and their sound-guy, who was sound!! Anyhoo, the day passed slowly, and on came 4 when we were picked up to be brought to the venue.

So, it was time and we kicked off really energetically. A bit too energetically. I was jumping around the stage like a maniac and when it came time for my whistle part in "The Middle Kingdom" I was completely out of breath!! Very funny. We had one hour to fill, and as always we ran out of time, leaving out "The Gael" and a few others. The crowd were great except for a crazy scottish guy who kept shouting requests.

After our slot we had a signing session, and it was great to meet so many people into cruachan. So, beer after beer, and some moshing to children of bodom, the night drifted slowly away. We ended up in a little kebab place where we ended up talking to a couple from Paris that came especially to see us. I couldn't help but feel guilty for not having some kind of after-party. But, after a day of debauchery and nerve attacks, we were wrecked. Surprisingly early finish to such a big event.

Looking forward to next year already.
